VMS Open Day | Kelly Farm 2025

Robots, Robots, Robots!

First and foremost, thanks to the Kelly family for allowing us to have an open day on their farm. It can be a busy few hours with visitors walking around and talking to everyone but the Kelly's all came together and made the cold morning fly by with no issues.

We had a great turn out, almost double what registered online! We had stations where groups could all see and hear:


1) Martin talk about why he got robots.
2) Our VMS lead Paul Harte talk about the robot as it milked.
3)Emma Slattery, our Diary Advisor explain the ABC grazing system the Kelly's have in place.

We weren't alone!

Thank you to our industry partners, Censortec, O Donovan Engineering and Cork Grassland Services, who came on the day to share how we all came together to help the Kelly farm be what it is today.

We host these days so interested (or just curious) visitors can see robots working on a real farm and hear from the farmer about why what where why and how they decided robots were for their farm.

Martin and his family did a great job at explaining everything to visitors and telling them about how he has so much spare time now he had taken up a new hobby, rowing! (see photo for evidence!)

DeLaval milking liners have uniquely soft lips which are gentle on cows’ teats and a smooth inner surface to enhance milk flow naturally.

The outer surface of our liners has a patented micro texture, which minimizes material swelling for fast and consistent milking with maximum hygiene.

 

Clover Liners

The Clover™ liner from DeLaval is the first liner of its kind. The DeLaval Clover™ liner delivers both gentle milking as well as high performance, unlike other liners which may make you choose between one or the other. The unique clover shape of Clover combined with stronger sections in the cylinder and the rounded corners, means that the teatcup liner provides optimal function and gentle teat treatment.

Harmony Liners

Harmony liners are designed to work with our Harmony clusters as well as MC53 and MC93. Suitable for medium-sized udders, with teats of medium to small lengths and diameters. A micro texture surface on the outside of these liners minimizes the rubber tendency to swell. Less swelling means the liners provide better milking properties throughout their lifetime. The flange connection in combination with the unique layout of the short milk tube provides excellent vacuum shut off at cluster application and take off

Drum Dolly

A cleverly designed trolley for smooth handling and transportation of drums. 

Use the handle to tip the drum slightly away from you as you slide the trolley underneath the drum. The built-in drum spanner in the handle allows you to quickly and easily open the drum tap with no additional tools needed. The loop handle is also fitted with comfortable push handles for a secure grip when manoeuvring the trolley.

The three wheels provide low rolling resistance and smooth and even operation. The wheels are very durable and resistant to oil, grease and other chemicals. The smaller swivel castor makes the trolley easier to manoeuvre.
